QPSI Internship program
Program Overview
The AI-enhanced Quality and Patient Safety Initiative (QPSi) at the College of Medicine, launched in 2023, advances healthcare through AI-driven patient safety and continuous improvement. QPSi unites clinicians, educators, AI engineers, data analysts, and project managers to develop innovative solutions with front-line professionals.
Committed to developing future leaders, QPSi offers an internship program for UF graduate students in engineering, computer science, healthcare administration, public health, education, and communications. Interns receive mentorship, collaborate on multidisciplinary AI-driven projects, and gain expertise in healthcare quality improvement, change management, and servant leadership. This initiative underscores QPSi’s mission to empower students and shape AI-integrated healthcare.
Learning Outcomes
- Apply AI, quality improvement, project management, and discipline-specific skills in real-world healthcare settings, translating theory into practice.
- Use technology, research, and critical thinking to analyze data, solve problems, and make informed decisions that improve healthcare quality and safety.

Eligibility and Qualifications
- Current students of a UF graduate program in engineering, computer science, healthcare administration, or public health with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong team player with a collaborative mindset.
- Self-motivated, problem-solving, team-centric, and growth mindset.
Compensation and Duration
Internship positions are available at $18/hr for 20 – 40 hours per week over 10 – 12 weeks during the academic semester. Each position is eligible for graduate course credit. Internship cohorts will be selected to facilitate collaboration within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams.
